Zoe Murphy has embraced the mantra ‘love what belongs to you’ and turned unloved furniture and textiles into striking bespoke pieces that have me truly smitten. Zoe re-uses materials such as fabric from old wedding dresses, wood veneers and Formica and adorned them with drawings and patterns inspired by the landmarks, seaside and people of her hometown, Margate. Having inherited a few old pieces of furniture myself, I’d love to give them the Zoe Murphy makeover.
For those of you who consider the water-cooler to be a feature in your office, look away now. For the lucky guys and gals who work at Ogilvy & Mather, in Guangzhou, China, this extravagant indoor theme park is where they do a hard days work. Designed by M Moser Associates, the office features merry-go-round horses and life-sized nutcrackers…drool.
You’ll be lime green with envy or ruby red with lust when you see some of the interior design on This Ain’t No Disco, a portfolio showcasing the office spaces of creative agencies around the world. Pristine white walls embellished with illustrations, chandeliers, Polaroids of staff in the bathrooms, kitsch toys, gumball machines, and the shiniest of surfaces – it’s enough to make you want to live at work.
