Greenpeace have used the creative force to produce a spoof of VW’s award winning ‘The Force’ ad to rebel against their poor environmental record. Episode II of the story is revealed to those who sign Greenpeace’s online ‘Rebel Manifesto’. Darth Vadar…who’s the daddy now?

One of the highlights of this year’s Fringe Festival was the Playing With The Past event at Edinburgh’s Film House. Films from the Scottish Screen Archive were combined with live soundtracks provided by local bands eagleowl, FOUND, and Meursault which made for a unique cinematic experience. The short films included John Grierson’s film about Granton’s weather-beaten Trawlermen in the 1930s. Another was an abstract animation created by Evelyn Lambert and Norman McLaren who painted and scratched imagery directly onto film stock.

I can’t get enough of La Blogotheque’s Take Away Shows. Since the project’s beginning in 2006, La Blogotheque have notched up nearly 100 video podcasts featuring bands and artists playing their music in unexpected places. My favorites include Sigur Ros playing a rare acoustic performance of Vid Spilum Endalaust in a Parisian cafe, the sweet sound of Fleet Foxes’ Blue Ridge Mountains echoing from the glass ceiling of the Grand Palais, and Bon Iver’s off the cuff acapella rendition of For Emma in the stairwell of an apartment block.
