While I was in Glasgow last week I went to see the exhibition of the annual Glasgow 1999 Design Medal at The Lighthouse. The twelve designers shortlisted for the award cover the full spectrum of creative disciplines from jewelery and ceramics to product design and visual communication. I was particularly taken with Glasgow School of Art graduate, Caitlin Urquhart, whose fabrics embellished with acrylic, wood and leather shapes appealed to my love of bold geometric design. The exhibition is on till the 3rd May and well worth a visit.
